Die Schwarzen Schafe – Schrei LP
The EP "Schrei" (Scream) from Düsseldorf punk institution Die Schwarzen Schafe (The Black Sheep) marks their twentieth release in 23 years (albeit with a changing lineup). A truly mature achievement – congratulations on this anniversary! The Black Sheep 's experience is correspondingly vast , and it shows in every one of the six new songs.
The opener, "Voran, voran" (Onward, Onward) , is a great punk banger with solid guitar work, nicely aggressive vocals, and a catchy chorus. This is punk rock at its best. The following songs follow suit. The title track, "Schrei," is perhaps the highlight of the six tracks. Everything about it is just right. Lyrically, the Black Sheep don't mince words, and so "Schrei" can be highly recommended to any punk rock fan. Let's hope that the planned new full-length album will be released next year. Highly recommended!
