The writing of Vincent Dupas masterfully recreates the feeling of the wide open North American space- a vulnerable territory which lays its barren of myths, the negative of the picturesque american dream. In order to invoke the atmosphere, he surrounds himself with the Desert Foxes : Erwan Fauchard on bass, Franzl O'Gautreau on drums, and Faustine Seilman on the piano. They accompany MNIN on stage across France and Europe. In 2006 and 2007, Vincent Dupas wrote and toured with Faustine Seilman (Collectif-Effervescence 2007) and purged himself with Fordamage (screeching noise-rock). In 2008, he has turned a new page with a solo album entitled \"At the wolf pit\" a clear\/unclouded and spontaneous recording with the help of Antoine Lacoste in October of 2007 and Jonathan Seilman in March of 2008. Like the picture of the two wrestlers adorning its cover, this album is an intense fight, a genuine bare-fisted battle between an unbridled electronica and a noisy rock reminiscent of My Bloody Valentine s shoegaze guitars. One can hear drumbeats pitting themselves against beatboxes, massive bass grasping shooting guitars by the waist on a treadmill of mind-blowing layers ... A recording made with a few microphones and a travelling laptop in order to catch sounds 'elsewhere' and go find musicians in their own cities. The whole being produced analogically in Silver Sonya studio s very rock sound, with the help of sound engineer Devin Ocampo (member of Faraquet). Stuntman5 also being a DJ under the name 'Cognac Jay' (editing monthly mixes guests or by its guests ...), we finally chose to link this disc to today s electronic culture. Christian Bagnalasta has always included the 'mix' in his musical practice, as a musician (Stuntman5) or DJ (as DJ resident at La Route du Rock French summery Festival). He developed a taste for mixing genres, colours and tempos, creating anachronistic pieces and always being open to anything that involves his musical curiosity. His third full-lengh album called The Mentor was produced at Studio Cocoon in Rennes during August, 2008 by Bruno Green (Lilium, Howe Gelb, Santa Cruz, Miossec...). Dupas decided to compose the whole album with The Desert Foxes a great backing band that shares the road with him for the last couple of years. He also invited Vassili Caillosse (pedal steel, steel guitar, dobro...) from Santa Cruz and Jérôme Lorichon (trumpet, percussion) from Berg Sans Nipple to play on the record.
