Le Corbeau ‎– Evening Chill / Montreal Of The Mind LP

When touring with Serena Maneesh, Øystein Sandsdalen got a few unexpected days off in a snow covered Montreal, Canada. Obsessed with a bizarre mood triggered by his surroundings, Sandsdalen set off on the musical venture that was to become Evening Chill/Montreal of the Mind, the bands second release after their self titled minialbum (2008). "This is a collection of imaginary scenarios with a rather loose connection to the geographical Montreal - more like a series of postcard from a state of mind." Prior to Le Corbeau Sandsdalen spent a decade pacing his way through the darkest back alleys and drinking dens of Oslo. First as part of the post rock act Thee Unmist, later in the Snöras-related hardcore group Angora Static before he was brought on board as guitar player in Serene Maneesh alongside Emil Nikolaisen. The album is shrouded in an air of haunting nostalgia , connecting the different musical leaps found therein. You can find anything from garage-noir type tunes performed with a full band, to solitary John Fahey-inspired guitar pieces. initiated song by song to a variation of moods that lends inspiration from the nostalgic horror worlds of Goblin to the multifaceted world of David Lynch: As soon as you have let the warmth from a beautiful melody take residence in you, a dark uneasiness spreads from it and chills your bones. "Personally I listen to everything from Artie Shaw to the Misfits, but on this album I also have to aknowledge Goodspeed You Black Emperors lacrimose intensity as a source of inspiration, although I haven´t listened to them in years" The cover is made by Øystein Sandsdalen himself and the first edition will be limited to 1000 CD copies in handfolded and numbered covers.
